Before my time (yes, really), Mount St Helen's erupted:
Ash can cover and solidify organic material and create fossils, like the remains found in the lost city of Pompeii.
Welcome back, all!
We've been discussing evolution, natural selection, and mutation in our latest science classes. What perfect timing for the world to reveal a rare anomaly through natural mutation in the form of the 'spotted' zebra foal!
s and gymnasticsGravity is always 'on'...you don't need to check. :D
We have been talking about the various forces and Newton's Three Laws:
We were talking about gravity today in class and how it's a force that pulls together any two objects that have mass.
Some students brought up the connection of bubbles of balloons floating - they are still affected by gravity, it's just that the substance inside them (helium, for example) is less dense than air and will, therefore, allow the container that houses the gases to float.
The discussion on gravity reminded me of a few videos I've seen in the past which I enjoyed and did an excellent job at explaining the concept of gravity and how it is relative to different objects, including our planet.
Students will be working in groups to present information from Chapter 8 (Earth's Crust is Made Up of Moving Plates) and Chapter 9 (Plate Movement Cause Both Sudden and Gradual Changes to Earth's Crust).
Each group will be using PowerPoint on their One Drive (see previous post on how to log on to One Drive) and will be collaborating to share information with the rest of the class on their chosen topic.
8.1 A Layered Planet
8.2 Putting Together the Pieces of the Puzzle
8.4 Evidence for a New Theory
9.1 Plates on the Move
