BC ERAC Databases - these are trusted sites for student research

www.remind.com
A safe way for teachers to text message information to parents and students. Free.  Did I mention the 'free' part?  It's one of my favourite words when it comes to teaching resources.  This website allows you to set up your cell phone to receive text messages from teachers as a class.  This is one of the best ways to stay up to date with what goes on in the classroom.  Parents have used this to help keep their children's agendas filled out properly or stay on top of what's happening in class if there is an absence.

Click on this button on the bottom left hand side of the screen once you sign up. Make sure to go to the 'Notifications' tab and ensure your cell phone number is there to receive text message notifications.

www.explorelearning.com

Log-in to their classroom and there are ‘gizmos’ to help students understand some of the concepts we are learning in Science and Math class.

www.khanacademy.org

The Khan Academy is a great place to help you reinforce concepts you learn in Math.  There are all kinds of lessons for you to browse through.  Play the videos and review the concepts at your own pace from anywhere with an internet connection.

www.edmodo.com
This is a fantastic site for classrooms to meet and discuss assignments and events.  It is a safe site that students are invited to by their instructor, with the added benefit of having parent access as well.
"Edmodo helps connect all learners with the people and resources needed to reach their full potential."

The Daily 5 and CAFE
We are starting a new language arts program using the Daily 5 and CAFE system.  The 'Two Sisters' have put together a great website that supplements the work teachers do in class on a daily basis.  Students will be given a choice of activities throughout the day along with strategies they can work on while doing these activities.
