Dear Families,
My name is Ms. Handel and I will be working with your child this summer in the Grade 4/5 Math Learning Support Summer Program. I have taught all subjects in Grades 5, 6, and 7 in the past five years, but I am particularly fond of teaching Math! Each day our class will engage in a combination of reviewing Math they have learned in the past, and reinforcing those skills. We will also be looking ahead to the Math they will be learning in the upcoming school year to help prepare your child for the skills they will need to continue to develop in the future. I am confident that your child will have a memorable time meeting new friends while further developing their Math skills.
I am requesting some supplies please be brought in on the first day of school:
Please make sure your child is at school each day, arrives on time, and has all the supplies they will need to be successful. We will start each session right away as we have lots of learning to do. Attendance is critical to your child’s success for this summer session of learning as we will cover material in depth each day and it will be difficult to ‘catch up’ if they are absent. - A 1” binder (or anything similar to quickly take assignments out and put them away – not duotangs)
- 1 pack of pencils
- 1 pencil sharpener
- 1 eraser
- 1 blue pen
- 1 Math set (including ruler, compass, and protractor)
- 1 pack of pencil crayons
- 1 glue stick
- 1 pair of scissors
- 1 highlighter
- a personal reading book (we will have library times booked, but the items they check out will not be allowed to leave the classroom)
