Happy Monday, everyone!

There was a package of forms that have gone home with your child that need to be filled out and returned as soon as possible.

After the information packages were handed out, I asked the class to complete a Math assessment so I have a better understanding of where everyone is with the concepts.  We talked about Math curriculum and what they were all interested in learning during our time together.  So far, the main interest is in:
  • algebra
  • fractions/decimals/percents
  • measurement (converting, pi/circumference, angles, area/perimeter/volume)

We had a brief assembly to welcome everyone to the school, then it was back to the classroom to learn a mental Math game called PIG.

For the game of PIG you will need two six-sided die and a great memory.  Roll both die and remember the total you rolled.  Continue rolling as many times as you want and adding your sums together (the game is won when someone reaches a total of 100).  If you roll a 1 your turn is over and your opponent begins their turn.  If you roll snake-eyes (double ones) then you lose all of your points and it's your opponent's turn.  Try it at home!

Happy Monday,
Ms. H
