Yesterday (July 14th - sorry for the lack of posting!) we went more in depth with place value and rounding to the nearest: ten, hundred, thousand, ten thousand, and to the nearest hundred thousand.
Students were reminded over and over again that they must check the place value to the RIGHT of the place value they are rounding to.
For example, if we round 957 382 to the nearest thousand, we have to look to the hundreds place value to determine if we round up to 958 000 or down to 957 000.
957 382 --> 957 000
Keep up the good work,
Ms. H
