We have been working on brainstorming and choosing SMART goals (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, timely) in our HACE project. We brainstormed possible areas students would like to set goals in their lives two weeks ago, and students chose a goal last week. They also identified the possible benefits for wanting to reach their specific goal.
Today, we talked about the possible obstacles that could be in the way of them reaching their goal and the possible solutions to avoid or overcome the obstacle. For example, if their goal was to become a better reader, then they could have an obstacle of 'not having time to read'. A possible solution for this could be to read right before turning out the light for bed. Even 15 minutes of reading before going to sleep could help someone become a better reader.
